After driving about 9 hours, we took a break in Mitchell, South Dakota for a gander at the World's Only Corn Palace.

The Olde Ice Cream Shoppe + The Corn Palace

Nine hours of driving definitely calls for a short stop to stretch the legs and recharge. We were lucky to come out at just the right place for a roadside attraction followed by a chilled treat in Mitchell, South Dakota. The World’s Only Corn Palace is not to be missed. There’s really not much to do there, but how many times does a person get to see a building covered in corn and various natural materials. It was quite the feat. The murals of America’s attractions were marvelously constructed and designed.

Afterwards, we dropped in across the street at the Olde Ice Cream Shoppe. The ice cream was delicious and they had a wonderful variety. Just what we needed to get us through to Rapid City. More photos of the trip coming soon.
