British Car Field Day 2014

Lots of exciting news in today’s post! Yes, I’ve been very quiet lately, but for good reason. At the last major event, Mini on the Mack, I fell in love with a very wonderful fellow MINI owner, Allen. We’ve been dating ever since! He drives a 2012 Chili Red MINI Coupe. Allen and I had spent the winter building a tear-drop camper. Between his engineering and building skills, and my ability to hold and hand things, we build a really snazzy camper that is a perfect compliment to his MINI.

British Car Field Day started with a three Mini and one camper convoy to Sussex, Wisconsin. The MINI+Camper pairing was a hit with the British enthusiasts and scored Allen a first in the new MINI class in a landslide victory. Enjoy the show…

Ice Cream + Car Cruise + MINI On The Mack

Our latest ice cream runs took us to Fred’s Drive-In and Gilles Frozen Custard. Both are delicious choices for dinner and dessert.

The Brew City Car Cruise was the usual intriguing turnout of Minis, BMWs and more.

And now, what you’ve all been waiting for, MINI on the Mack! Bessie started off the trip by turning 150,000 miles on the odometer while driving through Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Her luck continued for a wonderful time up in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. She meandered around the backroads with her fellow 847.5 Minis before continuing across the Mackinaw Bridge. The Minis gathered for a round of horn honking to the tune of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” which achieved a World Record for Largest Car Horn Ensemble. To round out the weekend, Bessie has now been in three countries, adding Canada to her list of destinations visited.

Scoop deVille + Fall Foliage Drive & Poker Run 2012

The Milwaukee Minis ventured north this month to gather at Scoop deVille in Hartford. For dinner, it was hot dogs all around, followed by homemade Ice Cream. The ice cream parlor also has old-fashioned fountain sodas, candy, roasted nuts and chocolates wrapped up in a 1950’s themed diner. You’ll know you’re near it when you smell the wonderful aroma of cinnamon wafting out from the door! View Photos…

Finally, the beauty of Fall was painting the land and the Milwaukee Minis were ready to take in the colors. The Fall Foliage Drive and Poker Run took us around the hills surrounding the Holy Hill area, well known for it’s fall colors and twisty roads. Our final destination brought us to Revere’s Wells Street Tavern in Delafield for poker door prizes, merry drinks, and a much relished lunch. View Photos…

Bessie at Transfer Pizzeria and Café

Transfer Pizzeria and Café + The Drive-Thru

Bargain-hunting Bessie takes us out to for a night of pizza and donut delights. Our first stop is at Transfer Pizzeria and Cafe, set in an old pharmacy turned bar, art gallery and restaurant. The pizza was wonderful. The roasted chicken potato garlic sauce pizza was delicious, as was our traditional sausage and pepperoni. With such strange pizza combos, you almost have to go back to try the new flavors. Their groupon sold us on this place!

Our second stop took us out for mini donuts at The Drive-thru on North and Oakland. This was once Sil’s Drive-thru and had the same menu. I had actually bought the Google Offer thinking it was Sil’s. We went anyway to check it out. It’s been two years since we last had donuts there, so how did it compare? While I thought they were good, I wasn’t bowled over by the awesomeness that I remembered from the last trip to Sil’s in 2010. Still enjoyable though.
