Combatting the wind, the Milwaukee Minis set out across the twisty roads of Southern Wisconsin to find fall color. We met up at Cooper Park and wound our way to the Pewaukee Starbucks for early morning pick-me ups and tummy warmers. Through the countryside we motored up and down the hills to see the glorious fall leaves. Our next stop took us to a subdivision clubhouse where treats and drinks were shared. Thanks for the treats everyone!

Our final leg took us through the Lake Country area past beautiful lakes. When we got to downtown Oconomowoc, my home town, we were suddenly stopped in our motoring tracks by a stationary train! Unfortunately, no one followed me on my train avoidance route (which is critical to have in Oconomowoc!) Jenny and I ended up at the final destination first. Luckily, the rest of the crew showed up at Burke’s Lakeside Restaurant soon after and we had a wonderful meal. I didn’t win the poker hand, but I did end up with all the cards! View photos…

Bessie and the Milwaukee Minis spread their cheer at the State Fair parade. It seemed a little different from years past. The night before, riots had broken out – don’t ask me why. So the day at the fair seemed lightly attended with a little less pep than years before. The police seemed to be at every corner, keeping the peace. No crazy people running through the parade were maimed, and not for lack of trying on their part. We did have a lot of fun and brought some smiles to the fair-goers faces, which makes it all worth it. View photos…

The Milwaukee Minis club gathered at the Milwaukee lakefront for the custard and hamburgers of Northpoint Custard. The evening was wonderful with just the right weather, a wonderful setting sun over Lake Michigan and great company. The Milwaukee Minis and Bessie had a wonderful time celebrating Independence day with the residents of New Berlin. I even managed to wave to my friend who I was convinced I would miss. Next year, I need some new decorations. Anyone got any ideas? View Photos…

Our first adventure of the day was a quick stop at International Autos to check out the new MINI Countryman at MINI Rocks the Rivals. I got a t-shirt, a lot of info on a car that only gets you from point A to point B if you don’t have a fancy phone, and firm resolve that I’m sticking with my Bessie for a good while longer. Really MINI, by now you should have worked out how to get even better gas mileage on the new ones, or is it a really big phone charger? Thanks International for giving us the grand tour. I really do appreciate it!

Next, we were on our way to meet up with the Milwaukee Minis – just in the nick of time. Our convoy flew down the highway to meet up with the Chicago club at the Fox River Park. After a quick set of directions, a few hellos, and quite a few photos between raindrops, we wandered the countryside once again. The fields and trees were just beginning to show their green. The rain trickled down, just enough to make the nearly impossible task of taking photos while moving a little more insurmountable. Our final destination was a welcome respite from the cold and damp. A round of grilled cheese, soup and french fries hit the spot at the Bristol 45 Diner. Yum!

Braving a Wisconsin snowstorm, Bessie and crew set off to SPiN Milwaukee for some holiday cheer with the Milwaukee Minis. SPiN is a ping-pong social club with a bar, food and lots and lots of ping-pong tables. Our group had a private room complete with a bar, seating areas and awesome ping-pong tables. This wasn’t like playing in my grandma’s basement. Between the great paddles and bucket full of balls, the fun never stopped. If you stayed home because of the snow, you missed a good time, MINI shaped cake and, of course, the stress of driving your precious car through a blizzard. View Photos…

It’s been a busy fall and I’ve finally gotten the last two adventure photos up… now that it’s snowing. Enjoy our final event of the season with the Milwaukee Minis at Kopp’s in Glendale. Also, the crew visited the North Lake Inn for pizza, cheesy garlic bread and Sprecher’s root beer with free refills. The cheesy garlic bread is not my favorite kind, but it was accompanied by garlic salt which was nice. The pizza was delicious and the root beer fantastic.

Surprisingly, there were a lot less potentially fatal accidents this year at State Fair. I almost got one group, but they narrowly escaped. Not that I was aiming for them, no. More like, I was busy doing my parade duties of waving, grinning, steering, keeping an eye out for danger, while they did their anti-parade maneuver of jumping out in front of a moving vehicle. Other than that, the parade went off without a hitch. I feel like the Milwaukee Minis really know what their doing now and could just randomly gather, throw on some decorations and start a parade. We’ll have to start the world’s first MINI motoring band. I promise not to play, drive and take photos. Anyway, view State Fair photos…
