British Car Field Day ’11

Car Shows

It was a wonderful day for a Father’s day British car show in the middle of a Sussex, Wisconsin park. Unfortunately, my Dad wasn’t able to bring his little green Mini he’d been working so hard to get done. Oh, she was done alright, but dad wasn’t. He got the call and off to work he went. He arrived in time to see the Morris Minors, the Triumph Stag and the Riley Elf, so I was happy that at least he got a chance to see them at the British Car Field Day.

What’s my Dad do that he gives up a British car show? I’m not quite exactly, but I’m going to guess super hero.

If anyone knows of any other terrific British Car shows this summer in the Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois area – let me know!

Ice Cream Escapades

It’s been a long time. Too long. Due to schedules, a computer going kerplunk, and general life, these adventures are long over due.

Our first adventure is a quick weekend visit through Illinois to pick up some Snoopy stuff from a very hospitable friend. Along the way, I stopped in Atlanta, Illinois to stretch the legs, see the odd sights and lose myself in a unforgettable strawberry milkshake at the Palms Grill Cafe.

After the long drive, my host let me refuel at local St. Louis favorite: Ted Drewes. For some odd reason, I was craving a brownie sundae over the traditional concrete. Now I have the perfect excuse to go back! Not that I really needed one with custard that delicious.

On the way back north, I stopped to see a few more oddities including the world’s largest catsup bottle.

Our second adventure led us to Leduc’s in Wales, Wisconsin, for an ice cream social with the Milwaukee Minis. Leduc’s has hamburgers so good, one MINI owner drove all the way from California for one! Also attending was my very own dog, Tosh, the nervous passenger. She was not too thrilled with those bumpy roads.
