Wayne’s Drive In

Ice Cream Escapades and Milwaukee Minis

What could have been a long day of disasters was saved by my faithful MINI friends. I left my wallet at home. There was $6 of change in the car. Halfway to Wayne’s, I suddenly realized I had one gallon of gas in the car. With approximately 10 miles to go and 45 miles to get home, 30 miles worth of gas just wasn’t going to make it. Thanks for getting me home, Tom!

Besides the monetary oversight, the evening was a triumph. The staff at Wayne’s Drive In is very welcoming of our strange bunch. The Cedar Crest ice cream was, of course, delicious. I’ll have to go back one of these days for burger and fries. The parking lot had a good showing of classic cars, but Thursdays night, I’m told, is the night to be there for the classic car show. Bessie became “Cheesy Rider” for the Wisconsin State Fair Parade. I finally got around to making a new costume for Bessie consisting of dozens of round poster board dots for that swiss cheese-look. Not all of the fair-goers seemed to understand the costume, but I think it turned out well considering it cost a whole $5.00. Double stick tape and an extra piece on top seemed to hold at 30 miles an hour, in case you ever need to drive at “high speeds” in a parade costume. View photos…

International MINI treated the local MINI owners to a night at the movies. At the dealership, We gathered for treats, conversation and door prizes. One by one, we splashed and dashed our way over to the Milwaukee Brewer’s Stadium for our outdoor movie. A bit of rain didn’t dampen our spirits as we watched Night at the Museum followed by The Italian Job. With honks of delight, the MINIs cheered on their on screen counterparts as they took Los Angeles by storm. View photos…

Thanks International MINI for a great evening!
