Genetic Mutant Sea Monster Shark Attack!

Road Trip ’07

It’s been awhile, but finally the archives of Bessie are updated with the far and wide wanderings into Texas. Things we would have missed if we weren’t roadtripping:

  • The random lady from Iowa that used to live in Oconomowoc
  • The sudden realization that Quiznos is sometimes with an apostrophe, and sometimes without!
  • Pink watertowers, pink trucks
  • A cow giving birth
  • McDonald’s renting DVDs
  • 13 Model A’s driving down the highway
  • 6 Cowboys and their 317,239 head of cattle
  • Insect hail
  • Tex & Dot telling us to beware of strangers
  • 3 old Minis for sale in Corpus Christi
  • 3 Giants Sharks, 2 Giant Fishermen, a Giant Octopus, a Giant Sandcastle complete with mermaids and a small crash plane
  • 2 Ferry rides, 5 minutes each
  • The wonders of Rain-x
  • Schlitterbahn
  • Free Oklahoma Coffee
  • The death of Oklahoma Teepee picnic tables
  • Herbie, The Love Bug
  • Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe
  • Singing Oklahoma! showtunes in Oklahoma
  • A tyme machine on wheels
  • Inside joke creation
  • and of course, many conversations with curious MINI-gawkers

And that’s why a roadtrip is worth every mile! Enjoy the many photos…

  1. Omigod. Is the Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe you mention in Springfield, MO ? Or are there more than one of them ? I used to live in Springfield (no Mini then), and that is where I encountered C O’K’s

  2. It was a sign on I-35 somewhere in Kansas. We just thought it a strange mix of irish, french and mexican.

We didn’t eat there, but I’ve just found out they have two locations in my state! Just another reason to go motoring!
